Jewelry Color Trends 2011 - Blue Gemstones For Spring Fashion

Looking at the Spring colors from Pantone this year, I'm excited about the blue color palettes and the gemstone choices. Who doesn't like blue gemstones after all? This soft pastel touch of the blues open up an array of great choices for gem setting. When I see Regatta, I instantly think of Larimar. This versatile semi-precious stone is perfect for setting in cabs for chunky rings and necklaces. Because of the limited amount they have been able to mine, the price is bound to skyrocket, so hurry on your purchases. Larimar, a rare blue variety of pectolite is found only in the Dominican Republic.

Some Larimar will appear with a bit more green than the ocean sea looking shades that are so popular. This is a perfect fit for the other blue spring color from Pantone, Blue Curacao. This tone is a refreshing change of pace to the darker navy from 2010. It's exciting and breezy compared to it's darker cousin. A pale

Aquamarine may do the trick, but it's variations on the green are so slight, that it may not match up completely. The Regatta tone may reawaken my love of London Blue Topaz, an inexpensive alternative to Aquamarine that never really goes out of style, but will enjoy a very healthy revival this year with Pantone's choices.

Turquoise may be a possibility, but again, the variations could make matching difficult. Out will be dark blue Topaz, Tanzanite (thank you... no one could afford it anyway), Sapphire and Lapis. Keep in mind that crystals will be hot this spring and summer and the handmade artists will have a great time with this beautiful blue palette from Pantone this year. These blue color trends have really lifted my spirits this season... this is going to be a fun year for blue. Other possibilities that border on the unusual are Spessartine, Apatite, Light Green Zircon, maybe some variations of Tourmaline and Azurite.
